The living room is dark, gloomy, narrow. Existing floor tile is dirty and stained. Ceiling cornice treatment is dated. Staircase railing is rusted.

The back/ side yard adhering to the neighbor. It is dark and run-down, lack of privacy. The space is narrow and under-utilized.

Living Room

We decided to break the main wall in living room. Extend the living room, create a new extended living space which purge right out into the side garden.

After

Living Room

The new living room is now much more spacious and comfortable. The room is fully filled with daylight, penetrated through new floor-to-ceiling height window, and timber blind. The new wall is constructed of reinforced concrete. Let the original finishing of the concrete wall be the feature of this “muji”-concept living space.

See how the daylight naturally woven into the cozy living space. The existing tiled floor is laid over with high-quality timber flooring. The color palette is cleaned up and softened with natural and neutral earth tones.

The result is a bright and spacious kitchen facing the back lane.

The “L”-shape countertop forms an effective “working triangle” for preparation of daily meals.

We increased the presence of original frontage with an extension of the living room on the right-hand side of the house.

After

We erected a feature wall made of reinforced concrete in the extended living room. Let the beauty of the material and natural material palette speak for itself.

Natural concrete finish, grey-tone granite design floor tile, green garden.

  Bedroom

Before

Bedroom

The master bedroom is tucked at the corner of the house, with only a small window looking into the back lane. The overall feel is gloomy and unattractive.

Bedroom

We did a major repositioning of the space. Master bedroom is relocated to the original location of the kitchen.

Now we have a master bedroom that fronts the garden.

Let’s break open the window, and have a close dialogue with the garden. Over-looking the room, is a spacious bathroom with nice skylight, with a private garden view too!
